The District is accepting applications for Library Media Technician. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This is the minimum experience and education/training standards that will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of library media experience. TO BE CONSIDERED, THE FOLLOWING MUST BE FURNISHED WITH THE APPLICATION PACKET: • Classified Employment Edjoin Application • Graduation from High School • Two (2) years of Library Media experience • Resume Individuals interested in employment are asked to describe any training, education, experience, or skills relevant to this position. Applicants needing special accommodations for testing should submit a request to Human Resources at the time of application. Letters of recommendation are encouraged. Please attach it to your application packet. All materials received will be acknowledged and treated confidentially. SELECTION PROCEDURE: The process will begin with the competitive screening of qualified applicants. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a written, oral, and/or practical examination process. Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligibility list according to the examination score. Final selection will then be made in accordance with Merit System rules from the eligibility list that is good for 6 months once it is established. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Functions, operations and maintenance of school libraries. Library practices, procedures, reference materials and terminology. Operation of a variety of technology devices including but not limited to a computer and assigned software. Data entry and retrieval techniques. Library cataloging and classification. Filing, indexing and inventory procedures. Record-keeping techniques. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. ABILITY TO: Perform a variety of technical library duties in the acquisition, circulation, maintenance and distribution of books and instructional materials. Assist students and teachers in the selection, location and use of library materials and equipment. Organize, distribute and store library, textbooks and audio-visual materials. Learn curriculum, reading levels and appropriate reference materials. Monitor and maintain acceptable student behavior in the library. Read age and subject-appropriate stories to classes. Process and shelve library materials. Inventory, order, receive and assist in the selection of instructional materials and equipment. Operate a variety of technology devices including but not limited to a computer and assigned software. Maintain files and records. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Complete work with many interruptions. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
