The District is accepting applications for a TEMPORARY Community Schools Specialist. Applicants are required to describe any training, education, experience or skills relevant to this position. Resumes are optional. Applications will be screened based on the minimum qualifications shown for the position. Qualified candidates will be identified at each step of the selection process for further competition. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two (2) years of college level coursework in social sciences or related field, and three (3) years of experience working in the area of family support or community outreach. Experience leading an initiative is desired. Bilingual preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementation of community schools program activities and services. Diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students. District and community programs, services, and resources. Federal, State, and County community resource organizations, resources, and public services available for students and families. Principles and practices of parent education, outreach, and family involvement. Marketing techniques and strategies. Community surveys, basic research, analysis, methodology, and assessment tools. Methods, practices, and terminology used to prepare and maintain data and productivity records/reports. Applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations (State and Federal). Safety practices and procedures. Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Individuals interested in employment are asked to describe any training, education, experience, or skills relevant to this position.
