We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to lead our retail operations and help us continue growing while maintaining the warm, premium feel our customers love.
Responsibilities
- Lead all daily retail operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, POS management, and store security.
- Deliver exceptional, personalized customer service that builds lasting relationships with pet parents and turns shoppers into loyal repeat customers.
- Manage full-cycle inventory: ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, merchandising, loss prevention, and maintaining optimal levels of premium pet products.
- Drive sales through strong product knowledge, upselling, promotions, and creating an engaging, visually appealing shopping experience.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and motivate retail team members to consistently deliver excellence.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and inviting store environment (including the DIY dog wash area) that reflects our premium brand.
- Collaborate with our professional grooming team to ensure smooth overall store operations and a seamless customer experience.
- Support in-store events, local marketing, community partnerships, and basic social media/content efforts to grow awareness.
- Track sales, inventory, and performance metrics; prepare reports for ownership; and identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Educate customers on premium pet products and care while staying current on industry trends.
Qualifications
- 3 years of retail management or supervisory experience (specialty/boutique retail or pet industry experience is strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of driving sales growth, managing inventory effectively, and delivering outstanding customer service.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and training skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Genuine passion for animals and comfort working around dogs and cats of all sizes (previous experience in pet retail, grooming, veterinary assisting, animal shelter, or similar roles is a big plus).
- Knowledge of or strong interest in premium pet products and nutrition (experience with specialty, raw, or fresh diets is a bonus).
- Comfort with POS systems, inventory software, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and basic social media tools.
- Flexible schedule with availability for weekends and some holidays (standard retail environment).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications in retail management or pet care a plus.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, proactive, and excited to work in a pet-loving, community-focused business.
