Position Summary

The Radiology Technician supports the mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy of Helios Multispecialty Group. The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and applicable regulatory and safety standards.

This position provides high-quality, compassionate patient care throughout the imaging process, including patient preparation, positioning, imaging, monitoring, and documentation. The Radiology Technician works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff to obtain accurate diagnostic images and support timely and effective patient care.

The Radiology Technician is responsible for operating radiologic equipment safely and effectively, maintaining radiation safety standards, ensuring accurate patient and imaging documentation, maintaining equipment and work areas, and complying with applicable regulatory requirements and Helios policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and applicable standards of practice.
• Verify patient identity and examination orders prior to procedures and appropriately prepare, position, and educate patients throughout the imaging process.
• Operate radiologic equipment to obtain accurate, high-quality diagnostic images and evaluate images for quality and completeness, repeating images when clinically appropriate.
• Follow radiation safety practices and utilize appropriate shielding, protective equipment, and safety procedures for patients, employees, and visitors.
• Monitor patients during procedures, provide appropriate assistance with positioning and transfers, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate clinical staff.
• Properly process, label, document, store, and transmit images and examination information through the electronic medical record and applicable imaging systems.
• Operate, clean, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of radiology equipment; promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or other issues requiring attention.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe radiology environment and follow infection prevention, equipment cleaning, and disinfection procedures.
• Provide professional, compassionate, and patient-centered care while maintaining patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, continuing education, competency activities, and other departmental or organizational initiatives as requested; perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Associate degree or equivalent education in Radiologic Technology preferred.
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or applicable credentialing organization.
• Current state-required license or certification to practice radiologic technology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, if required by the organization.
• Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist/Radiology Technician preferred, particularly in an outpatient or physician-office setting.
• Experience with electronic medical records and radiology/imaging systems preferred.
• Maintains all required continuing education, professional credentials, and competency requirements.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to work in a clinical office environment and may require prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive movements. The position requires the ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers, lift, push, pull, and maneuver equipment, and safely assist patients with mobility needs. The position may involve exposure to radiation, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and other clinical hazards; all required safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be utilized.
