What are the responsibilities and job description for the Float Front Desk Receptionist position at Pain Management of Oklahoma?
The Front Desk employee will provide a high quality and responsive reception service to all patients ensuring that the reception runs efficiently and in accordance with the practice requirements. The Front Desk employee is responsible for managing patient flow in the office, by moving patients through predetermined schedule of appointments.
This position is primarily located in the Tulsa Area but will travel frequently.
Essential Functions:
Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patient and visitors in person and on the telephone; answers inquiries or refers questions to the appropriate staff member
- Schedules appointment for the physician/s and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective utilization of examining and treatment rooms
- Prepares a daily schedule of examinations or treatment
- Endeavors to keep patients on schedule by reminding provider of service delays
- May assist other staff members with their duties as workload dictates
- Insurance verification and collection of co-pays
- Provides positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, physicians, members of the healthcare team, referral sources, services agencies and others
- Adheres to all department/facility policies
Requirements and Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Basic office skills:
- Computer skills are essential
- Close attention to detail
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Consistent attendance is required to assure that the client facilities’ needs and patient needs are met

- Ability to work collectively in an office setting and independently on assigned tasks
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School diploma.
- At least one-year relevant experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT billing codes a plus.
Additional qualifications:
- Special Skills: Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and interdependently with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and passes ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team.
Physical Demands:
Works in a fast-paced, well-lit, comfort controlled medical office. High traffic area. Interaction with others may be constant and interruptive. Work may be very stressful. Most of public contact involves people needing medical care. Occasional evening or weekend work. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position in a reference clinical setting. The employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel:
Travel is required within this position.
