Job Title: Administrative Psychiatric Coordinator (Admin Psych)

Pay Range: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Administrative Psychiatric Coordinator supports the coordination and administrative management of psychiatric services within a healthcare or affiliated setting. This role focuses on patient safety, compliance with Maryland mental health regulations, and efficient coordination of individuals requiring psychiatric evaluation, monitoring, or placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate psychiatric evaluations, consults, and patient placements with local hospitals, crisis centers, and behavioral health providers
- Assist with processing Emergency Petitions (EPs) and related documentation in accordance with Maryland law
- Serve as a liaison between medical staff, behavioral health professionals, law enforcement, and community agencies
- Monitor individuals under psychiatric observation to ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation related to capacity screenings, behavioral risk assessments, and disposition planning
- Support discharge planning and coordination with inpatient psychiatric facilities or outpatient behavioral health resources
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and Maryland behavioral health regulations
- Assist staff with crisis response procedures and behavioral escalation protocols
- Track and report basic data related to psychiatric admissions, transfers, and outcomes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, case management, or a related field
- Basic understanding of mental health terminology and familiarity with Maryland emergency petition process preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric units, or crisis response settings
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or willingness to obtain
Work Environment
- Hospital, behavioral health, or community-based care setting in the Mt. Airy, MD area
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with individuals in crisis
