POSITION SUMMARY
Support our culinary team at a serene retreat. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment to ensure high-quality food service for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while respecting the peaceful retreat setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Dishwashing:

Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly and efficiently.

Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment, ensuring proper use and cleanliness.

Organize and store cleaned items in designated areas to maintain an orderly kitchen.
Kitchen and Restaurant Cleaning:

Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, including counters, sinks, floors, doors, food carts and equipment.

Remove trash, recycling, and compost regularly, following the retreats waste management guidelines.

Sweep and mop kitchen floors and maintain cleanliness in walk-in refrigerators and storage areas.

Clean and sanitize all dining areas including countertops, tables and floors.
Support for Kitchen Operations:

Assist kitchen staff by ensuring they have clean tools and equipment as needed.

Monitor cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when restocking is necessary.

Help with basic food prep or other tasks as directed by the kitchen team.

Assist with receiving and storing all food deliveries.

When needed, assist with delivery of food to the dining spaces.
Health and Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Report any maintenance or safety issues, such as equipment malfunctions or spills, immediately.

Follow proper handling and storage protocols for cleaning chemicals.
Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations during meal service.

Assist with special events or large group meals as needed.
Physical Demands:

Position requires frequent standing or walking during shifts up to 10 hours.?

Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to four hours at a time, multiple times within a ten-hour shift.

Must be able to stoop, bend and reach up.

Frequent use of hands and arms with repetitive movements.

Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping, broken glass, hot liquids and hot food.

Share small workspaces with associates, especially during busier times of service.

Must be able to flex hours of availability when necessary. Hours may be extended or irregular to include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:

Prior experience in a dishwashing or kitchen cleaning role is a plus but not required.
