Position Overview:
The Mammography Technologist will support the mission and values of PSMC. Under the direct supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the Radiologist, the Mammography Technologist performs Screening and Diagnostic Mammograms to assist in the diagnosis of disease. The Mammography Technologist also performs diagnostic procedures and assists the Radiologist with these procedures. The Mammography Technologist works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations using proper positioning and technique
- Assist radiologists with wire localizations, biopsies, and diagnostic procedures
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, education, and emotional support throughout imaging procedures
- Maintain compliance with MQSA, FDA, and ACR standards, including quality control documentation
- Manage mammography accreditation and state/FDA inspection processes
- Complete and maintain accurate patient documentation within the electronic health record
- Perform daily quality control checks and coordinate equipment maintenance
- Monitor follow-up compliance for additional imaging, biopsies, and pathology results
- Maintain mammography supply inventory and exam room readiness
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, providers, patients, and interdisciplinary teams

- Base Compensation Range: $33.25 - $51.40 hourly, based on years of relevant experience ranging from 0 to 22 years of experience. "Relevant experience" means relevant to the employee's responsibilities set forth in the job description as determined by the HR Manager, CAO, applicable department manager/director and applicable senior leader.
- Benefits: Full-time benefits include generous paid time off, separate sick leave, health, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability and option for short-term disability, and retirement plan with employer contribution.
- Starting Work Bonus: This position is eligible for a starting work bonus of up to $5,000. Eligibility, amount, and payment terms are subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s compensation policies and may vary based on position, experience, and employment status. Bonus payments, if applicable, are typically issued after the employee has met required employment and service criteria.
- Moving Expense Reimbursement: This position is eligible for a moving expense reimbursement of up to $3,000. Reimbursement is subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s relocation policy and requires prior approval. Eligible expenses and reimbursement amounts may vary based on position and individual circumstances. Reimbursement is processed in accordance with established policy and applicable tax regulations.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an approved ARRT program
- ARRT certification in Radiography (required)
- Current AHA BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including patient positioning and lifting
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and electronic health records
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual skills are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of mammography experience (preferred but not required)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hospital-based clinical setting with frequent interruptions and moderate noise levels
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, and medical equipment
- Ability to lift, move, and position patients and equipment (up to 100 lbs with assistance)
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and fine motor skills required
