Job Summary:
This position requires a highly motivated professional with strong supervisory and investigative skills who can provide leadership within the department, oversee investigations, and assist patrol officers when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to assigned personnel, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Oversee and conduct complex criminal investigations, including case assignment, review, and follow-up.
- Coordinate investigative efforts with local, state, and federal agencies as appropriate.
- Review reports, case files, and evidence to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to officers and detectives.
- Assist on patrol when operational needs require additional coverage.
- Respond to major incidents, crime scenes, and community concerns.
- Promote a professional work environment that reflects integrity, accountability, and community-oriented policing values.
- Work patrol shift if open vacancies exist.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a Class 1 Certified Police Officer in the State of South Carolina.
- Minimum of 4 years supervisory law enforcement experience, including oversight of investigations.
- Strong knowledge of South Carolina criminal law, investigative techniques, and evidence handling.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing specialized investigative units.
- Advanced law enforcement training in investigations, leadership, or supervision.
- Strong background in case management and court preparation.
