Description
General Counsel responsibilities include:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to the company and senior leadership team on a wide range of business and compliance legal matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the retail industry.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate legal risks.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
- Oversee corporate governance and ensure proper legal documentation.
- Provide training and support to staff on legal matters and company policies.
Profile
The successful General Counsel should have demonstrable experience in:
- Juris Doctor and US state bar in good standing.
- Strong preference for experience in the retail industry or a similar sector encompassing leasing work, construction/ store fit-out contracts, employment matters for workforce across multiple states.
- Previous work for an international brand, working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and legal counterparts elsewhere in the world is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, compliance, and contract law.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice to leadership teams.
- Able to work from the office in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Job Offer
