Overview
The QA/QC Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all seafood products meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role oversees quality assurance and quality control processes, monitors production activities, and ensures compliance with HACCP, FDA, and other applicable regulations.
Responsibilities
Quality Assurance (QA)
- Maintain HACCP plans and food safety programs
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), and local health regulations
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits (e.g., BRC, SQF, GMP)
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Manage documentation related to food safety and quality systems
- Maintain Environmental Programs records
Quality Control (QC)
- Monitor production processes to ensure product quality and consistency
- Perform inspections on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods
- Conduct sensory evaluation (appearance, odor, texture of seafood)
- Verify labeling, packaging, and traceability requirements
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOP, and GMP programs
- Monitor sanitation and hygiene practices in processing areas
- Handle non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support recall and traceability programs
Supplier & Inventory Quality
- Evaluate and approve seafood suppliers
- Inspect incoming raw seafood for quality and safety
- Maintain supplier documentation and certificates (COA, HACCP compliance)
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing (seafood preferred)
- Knowledge of HACCP principles (seafood HACCP certification is a plus)
- Familiarity with FDA food safety regulations (21 CFR Part 123 for seafood)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work in cold and wet processing environments
Exposure to cold storage areas and wet processing environments

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
