Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc. has a open position for Locomotive Diesel Mechanic for our Paducah, KY location. This position is responsible for the inspections, repair and maintenance of all locomotives and related equipment in accordance with FRA, AAR, and Company rules, policies and regulations. All necessary safety procedures, guidelines and policies must be adhered to in the performance of the tasks assigned to this position as set forth below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects, services (including sanding, fueling and changing oil), and maintains locomotives according to FRA and AAR regulations and established company procedures.
- Performs preventive maintenance in accordance with regulations; troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear and other locomotive components using hand tools, torque wrenches, power tools and welding and other equipment.
- Signals other workers for movement of the locomotive engine or train, using a radio or hand signals, to indicate when to stop, start, back up or set and release air brakes while moving locomotives.
- Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports on conditions of locomotives and repair and maintenance work performed in accordance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work day or night shifts as assigned
- Ability to perform job tasks and responsibilities independently
Physical Requirements:
- Regular standing, walking, climbing, crouching and balancing.
- Ability to climb heights of 12 feet or more
- Ability to life 50 to 100 pounds
- Ability to work indoor and outdoors in all weather condition
