Position Description:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate pre- and post-op nurse.
- 100% outpatient position -- no hospital work, no call.
- You will also specialize in conscious sedation, which is under proceduralist supervision.
- This role also involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after their procedures, managing emergency situations, preventing hospitalizations, and ensuring safe discharges. The nurse will also perform consultations and follow-up visits to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Internal title is “Clinical Specialists (CS)”.
- Please note, we use fluoroscopy in the procedure suite, which emits low level radiation. While this is standard, and all Team Members in the procedure suite wear protective lead, this position is not appropriate for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, vital signs, and risk factors.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies promptly and efficiently.
- Perform necessary interventions, including CPR and other life-saving techniques.
- Coordinate emergency transfers to inpatient facilities if required.
- Monitor patients for signs of complications or deterioration.
- Implement interventions to manage acute symptoms and prevent escalation.
- Provide education and support to patients and families to prevent readmissions.
- Develop and follow care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Assist the Nurse Practitioner in consultations to assess patient suitability for outpatient revascular procedures and follow-up visits to monitor patient progress and address any post-op concerns.
- Provide ongoing education and support to patients and families throughout the recovery process.
- Educate patients and their families about the procedure, pre-op instructions, and post-op care.
- Prepare patients for their procedure, ensuring they are properly prepped and informed.
- Administer pre-operative medications as prescribed.
- Assist in administering and monitoring conscious sedation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor patients’ recovery from conscious sedation and their overall condition post-surgery.
- Manage pain control and administer medications as needed.
- Provide wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection.
- Educate patients and their families about post-op care, medications, and follow-up appointments.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive post-op care.
- Monitor and document patients' responses to sedation and ensure they meet discharge criteria.
- Assess patients for discharge readiness.
- Ensure patients have a clear understanding of discharge instructions and follow-up care.
- Coordinate with home care services and other resources as necessary.
- Conduct follow-up calls to check on patients' recovery and address any concerns.
Location/Travel:
- Based in Laredo, Texas, with required travel to Eagle Pass, Texas to meet full-time hours.
Schedule:
- Full-time (32-40hrs per week)
- Monday-Friday, Rotational Saturdays
- Travel to Eaglepass 1 per week required

Required:
- 18-month minimum commitment
- RN License
- Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, IV therapy, wound care, medication administration, and conscious sedation.
- Acute/Emergency care setting experience is required.
- A customer service-oriented attitude, charismatic
- Tech savviness - Experience with EMR systems and Google Workspace
