Position Scope
The Site Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of the company's safety policies and procedures across nation-wide medium and high voltage electrical construction projects. This role ensures compliance with company policies, as well as relevant federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
Location & Travel: This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be onsite at a project location. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You’ll spend 1-6 months on average per project. In addition to your base salary, you’ll receive a daily per diem to assist with living expenses while on assignment. This role includes regular rotational travel home from the job site. A company vehicle and fuel card will also be provided.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that safety protocols are followed by all employees and contractors on-site.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Identify and understand any contractual requirements (Safety or SWPP).
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure workplace safety standards are being met.
- Provide training to employees on safety practices and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure the organization is compliant.
- Responsible for project needs for safety supplies.
- Drive project team engagement.
- Communicate with client/ owner safety representative.
- Assist with any OSHA inspections.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings for project.
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or related field preferred
- 2 years of construction safety in a supervisory/ management role
- CHST or other BCSP certification preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Knowledge and experience with medium and/ or high voltage substations, collection systems, or transmission lines preferred
- Take reasonable care of yourself and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the goal of zero injuries.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, motivate workers and communicate with workers and superiors.
- Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines.
- Ability to read and interpret documents like safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Communication and report writing
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
