What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ingrid B. LacySchool - Physical Education Teacher position at Pacifica School District?
The Pacifica School District teacher provides an education program for pupils in grades K-8, or a combination thereof utilizing the goals and objectives approved by the District.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provides a comprehensive physical education program and prepares district-approved daily lesson plans utilizing textbook materials, supplemental instructional materials, audio and visual aids, etc.
• Develops a positive, effective and flexible classroom environment with high expectations for all students.
• Motivates pupils to develop a good foundation for further education through the acquisition of skills, attitudes and knowledge in accordance with each pupil’s ability.
• Implements curricula and classroom activities to meet state standards.
• Identifies unique student needs and responds accordingly, collaborating with other teachers and outside service providers, when necessary.
• Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth and communicates with parents through a variety of means.
• Utilizes assessments to recalibrate instructional practices.
• Schedules and confers with parents/students periodically to discuss the individual pupil’s progress and interpret the school program. Confers with school personnel (e.g., director, teachers, counselor, psychologist, supervisors, etc.), as necessary.
• Evaluates students through the utilization of teacher made tests, standardized tests, and observations.
• Guides pupils in citizenship and social responsibilities.
• Performs required supplemental duties (e.g., takes attendance, grade card reporting, interim reports, book orders, supply orders, emergency medical forms, student cumulative folders, bulletin boards, etc.).
• Participates in and helps supervise emergency preparedness drills (e.g., earthquake, fire, etc.).
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
• Participates in professional development activities, including in-service, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
• Serves on education-related committees (e.g., curriculum, course of study, textbook, etc.).
• Collaborates with colleagues in order to align curriculum and share best practices.
• Performs other duties required in job description and as assigned by supervisor.
