Duties
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for Swiss lathe machines using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and technical drawings to produce precise components.
- Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including electrical discharge machining (EDM), bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to maintain tight tolerances.
- Utilize CNC programming languages to execute machining operations efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Conduct quality inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), dial indicators, bore gauges, and other precision tools to verify dimensions and geometric accuracy.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity across machining operations.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, perform routine maintenance, and adjust tooling or programming as needed to optimize performance.
Experience
- Proven experience programming and operating Swiss-type CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, for designing and programming parts.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC programming languages and familiarity with G-code is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T principles.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with knowledge of tooling selection, geometry calculations, and machining techniques for precision manufacturing.
- Experience working with electrical discharge machining (EDM), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices aimed at continuous improvement within a fast-paced production setting.
