Our teams deliver high-quality fiber network solutions that keep communities and businesses connected.Position SummaryThe Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cable systems supporting telecommunications infrastructure. This role works across Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) environments to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant fiber network deployment and service continuity.Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & ConstructionInstall, route, and secure fiber optic cable in aerial, underground, and building environmentsPerform fiber pulls through conduit, innerduct, and handholesInstall fiber enclosures, splice cases, patch panels, and termination hardwareSupport new builds, upgrades, and maintenance projectsSplicing & TerminationPerform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiberPrepare and terminate fiber optic cable to required specificationsRead and interpret splice diagrams, schematics, and fiber matricesMaintain splice loss within acceptable tolerance levelsTesting & TroubleshootingConduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testingIdentify and resolve signal loss, breaks, or continuity issuesDocument test results and update as-builtsPerform network turn-up and system validationCompliance & SafetyAdhere to OSHA, company safety, and client-specific standardsMaintain proper handling of fiber materials and equipmentEnsure accurate documentation and reporting for compliance and close-outQualificationsRequired:1–5 years of fiber optic installation and/or splicing experienceExperience in OSP and/or ISP environmentsProficiency with fusion splicing equipment and OTDR testingAbility to read construction prints and fiber schematicsValid driver’s licensePreferred:FOA or CFOT certificationExperience working on carrier or large infrastructure projectsBucket truck or lift certificationKnowledge of industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 50 lbsComfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoor environmentsAbility to work flexible hours, including occasional nights or travelPerformance MetricsSplice loss averages within project specificationsOn-time project completionZero safety violationsAccurate test documentation and reportingCompliance & Employment ConditionsAll employment is contingent upon successful completion of background screening (if applicable), drug screening (if applicable), and verification of work authorization in the United States.PTC complies with all federal, state, and local employment laws.Employment classification (W2 or 1099) will be clearly defined and compliant with applicable labor regulations.Equal Opportunity Employer StatementPacific Tech Communications Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
