Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with potential for fill in.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance on hardware, tools, and home improvement products
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for retail sales transactions, including cash handling and cash drawer management
- Conduct product demos to educate customers on features and benefits of various items
- Stock shelves efficiently, ensuring merchandise is well-organized, labeled, and replenished regularly
- Assist with merchandising efforts to create attractive displays that promote sales and enhance the shopping experience
- Handle customer inquiries via phone with professional phone etiquette, offering solutions or directing calls appropriately
- Support upselling initiatives by recommending complementary products to maximize sales opportunities
- Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards to ensure a welcoming shopping environment
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems, cash register operations, and retail sales transactions
- Strong supervising or leadership experience in retail or customer service settings preferred
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory counts
- Excellent communication skills, including bilingual abilities to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Demonstrated proficiency in customer service with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Knowledge of retail store product categories such as hardware, tools, and home improvement items; grocery store experience is a plus
- Experience with merchandising techniques to enhance product visibility and sales potential
- Familiarity with stock management procedures including stocking, inventory control, and product demos
