What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Chemist position at Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company?

Requirements

The Quality Control Chemist develops and implements testing, sampling and inspection procedures on raw materials, equipment and/or finished products to ensure that product specifications and company and regulatory requirements are met. Recommends corrective action when appropriate. May monitor and execute on-site equipment and tools calibration. Skill set includes, but is not limited to:

  • Correct quality control throughput in a high-volume test sample environment.
  • Certifying that raw materials and finished products are within their technical specifications.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment including routine calibrations and troubleshooting/repair of those issues not requiring technical support visits.
  • Maintaining laboratory notebooks and logs.
  • Supporting the development and documentation of new/revised laboratory procedures.
  • Interfacing with the engineering, safety and the production staff to provide analytical data and technical input in support of the development or improvement of production processes.
  • Ability to comply with regulatory documentation and safe practices which come with handling ordinance samples.
  • Accountability for certified acceptance and analysis of explosives, propellants and other energetic materials.
  • Preparing reports, presentations and other documentation related to engineering, manufacturing and/or chemistry activities, including technical test plans.

Desired Skills: Proficient in the use of a variety of analytical chemistry methods and instrument operation including but not limited to DSC, TGA, FT-IR, Raman, UV-VIS, BET, IC, HPLC/MS and optical/digital (Keyence) microscopy. Sensitivity testing of energetic materials. Experience with PEPCAL, CHEETAH and related software desired but not required.

Education Required: BS degree in Chemistry or related field

Experience Required: 3 – 5 years of experience in a technical and manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace/defense industry; ordnance experience preferred but not required.

Bonus or Equity

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 79,300.00 - 147,300.00

Is this role subject to ITAR?

The essential duties of this position require adherence to U.S. Government export control regulations.
