Unarmed Officer - Foot/Site/Vehicle
Full time or Part time - Swing and Grave - Weekends required
Only vehicle patrol requires a valid Washington or Oregon Driver's License with a Clean driving record for the last 3 years.
Non-vehicle positions are available.
Starting Wage: $19.00 per hour, increases to $20.00 after 1040 Hours (6 Months at full time)
We approach security with a customer service mentality, this may not be a good fit if you are not comfortable interacting with the general public in downtown Portland, this means treating ALL with respect and empathy.
DPSST Training in house
No experience is necessary for this entry-level position. We will provide the training to do the job effectively. Our ongoing training, advancement, and career development opportunities are available. All needed DPSST Certifications are taken care of in house. Must be able to meet DPSST minimum standards.
Your safety is our utmost concern. We use a “hands-off” approach to communicate, solve problems, and de-escalate situations to ensure you keep yourself and others safe.
ALL our PPS team members receive extensive training that teaches you how to provide security in Portland’s downtown environment. Your training will equip you to maintain safe and friendly environments in office spaces, residential buildings, parking garages, and sidewalks. You will learn how to communicate effectively with all types of people.
You’re a great fit for this position if you pay close attention to detail and listen empathetically. You are patient and levelheaded, especially in the heat of conflict. Your personal ethics and values are strong and unwavering. You are good at building relationships and community and are friendly to all who cross your path.
Our flexible scheduling will help you achieve a work-life balance. We have both Full-Time and Part-Time positions available. Senior officers are given preference for PTO requests during
Parking. We are based out of downtown Portland and encourage our officers to use public transport or take advantage of SmartPark's affordable $36 a month parking.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and patrol assigned areas to ensure safety and security.
- Respond to incidents, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate situations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement when needed and assist in loss prevention efforts.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.

SKILLS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Must comply with PPS’ drug-free workplace policy
- Must meet DPSST minimum standards.
- Functional understanding of Microsoft office products
