ENTRY-LEVEL SECURITY OFFICER
Swing and Grave Shifts Available
Full-Time and Part-Time
Starting Wage: $19.00 per hour
Pacific Patrol Services (PPS) is a locally owned, family-oriented company dedicated to creating safer, friendlier environments throughout Portland. We believe security is built through professionalism, communication, observation, and strong relationships—not confrontation.
No prior security experience is required. We provide the training, support, and state certification assistance needed to help you succeed.
WHO SUCCEEDS AT PPS?
The best PPS officers are calm, observant, professional, and dependable. They pay attention to details, communicate clearly, and remain levelheaded when situations become stressful.
Our officers work in a variety of environments, including office buildings, residential properties, parking facilities, and other client locations throughout the Portland area. While every assignment is different, successful officers consistently:

COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION MATTER
Security at PPS is as much about communication and documentation as it is about observation.
Officers use company software throughout every shift to complete reports, document activity, communicate important information between shifts, and maintain accurate records. Applicants should be comfortable learning new technology and producing clear, accurate written documentation.
Successful officers can identify important details, communicate them effectively, and write concise reports that accurately describe events and observations.
NO SECURITY EXPERIENCE? NO PROBLEM.

TRAINING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Your safety is our highest priority. PPS uses a hands-off approach that emphasizes communication, professionalism, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
All officers receive extensive training designed specifically for Portland's downtown environment and the unique challenges of professional security work.
PPS provides the required 14-hour Oregon DPSST certification course at no cost. We have state-certified instructors who will guide you through the certification process and assist with application requirements.
As you grow with the company, opportunities may become available for specialized assignments, leadership positions, and vehicle patrol roles for qualified officers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Eligible to obtain Oregon DPSST certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable using tablets, mobile devices, and company software
- Ability to write clear and accurate reports in English
- Ability to work swing shifts, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must comply with PPS's drug-free workplace policy
DPSST CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires Oregon DPSST security certification. Certain criminal convictions may prevent certification. If you have questions about your eligibility, we encourage you to discuss them with our hiring team before applying.
