Medical Assistant (Front & Back Office) – Pain Management

Pacific Pain & Regenerative Medicine is a growing pain management practice dedicated to helping patients improve their quality of life through compassionate, patient-centered care. We are a fast-paced, high-volume office that works closely with providers, attorneys, case managers, and referral sources to support patients throughout their treatment journey.
We are currently seeking a dependable, professional, and motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. This role supports both clinical and front office operations and is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy medical environment, is highly organized, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Position Overview
The Medical Assistant plays a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow, supporting providers during patient visits and procedures, assisting with administrative duties, and delivering excellent patient care and customer service.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable multitasking between back office and front office responsibilities in a pain management setting.
Responsibilities
Clinical / Back Office Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist providers with medical histories, chart preparation, and documentation
- Support providers during injections and in-office procedures
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms and procedure trays
- Provide patient education and follow-up instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
- Assist with urine drug screening (UDS) and specimen handling when needed
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
Front Office / Administrative Duties
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups
- Answer incoming calls and assist with patient inquiries
- Collect copays, deductibles, and process payments
- Verify insurance and assist with prior authorizations
- Coordinate communication with attorneys, case managers, pharmacies, and referral offices
- Assist with patient intake forms and documentation
- Support overall clinic workflow and daily operations
Technology & Documentation
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems efficiently
- Maintain organized and accurate patient records
- Use Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets) for communication and workflow management
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program
- 1–2 years of Medical Assistant experience
- Pain management, orthopedic, personal injury, or specialty clinic experience
- Bilingual Spanish-English
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Practice Fusion, Athena, Dendi, etc.)
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA)
Preferred Pain Management Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Controlled substance refill protocols
- CURES/PDMP familiarity
- Urine drug screening procedures
- Chain of custody documentation
- Assisting with trigger point, joint, or epidural injections
- Sterile technique and procedure setup
- Opioid agreement compliance and documentation
Additional Certifications (Preferred)
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Phlebotomy Certification
