CONSTRUCTION TRAINER (Residential Landscape)
$27-30/hr
Position Summary:
Join our growing team at Pacific Outdoor Living as a Construction Trainer. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for developing a highly trained, disciplined, and productive field workforce through hands-on construction training, coaching, accountability, and leadership development. The Construction Trainer ensures all crews consistently follow Pacific Outdoor Living standards for workmanship, safety, professionalism, and teamwork. This role is ideal for someone with strong field construction experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing people and improving production performance.

Performance Objectives:
- Train field crews in construction methods, installation standards, company systems, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate proper installation techniques through hands-on field instruction.
- Ensure all field training systems are established, organized, and productive.
- Coach and communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Correct mistakes directly, professionally, and constructively.
- Hold crews accountable to Pacific Outdoor Living workmanship and conduct standards.
- Develop repeatable training systems, routines, and processes.
- Evaluate employee skill gaps and improve crew performance through coaching and repetition.
- Create consistency, structure, discipline, and accountability across teams.
- Help reduce callbacks, mistakes, inefficiency, waste, and rework.
- Support onboarding and development of new hires.
- Work with the Department of Corrections to identify recurring production or quality issues and resolve them through retraining.
Capabilities/Key Competencies:
- Strong hands-on construction knowledge and ability to teach field installation techniques effectively.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and accountability skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to establish systems, routines, and measurable training processes.
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety procedures and field operations.
- Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish required.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of field construction experience required.
- Previous experience training, leading, or supervising construction crews preferred.
- Experience in landscape construction, hardscape installation, or related field operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Ability to commute daily to Sun Valley main office and jobsite locations across Los Angeles County.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Successful applicants for this role will be required to participate in pre-employment aptitude assessments. These assessments are used to help identify their potential ability to perform the job duties associated with the role.
