Position Summary
We are a growing MEP consulting firm seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our remote team. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems — primarily HVAC, plumbing, and piping — for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects across California, Nevada, and Washington.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and engineering calculations
- Perform load calculations (heating, cooling, ventilation) in compliance with applicable codes
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines for integrated design solutions
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs from contractors
- Ensure designs comply with California Title 24, ASHRAE standards, IMC, UPC, and applicable state and local codes
- Participate in client meetings, project kickoffs, and design reviews
- Mentor junior staff and support project documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3 years of experience in MEP consulting or building systems design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and mechanical design software
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing design, and energy codes
- Strong knowledge of building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with energy modeling and Title 24 compliance documentation
- LEED accreditation or other green building certifications
- Experience with advanced mechanical systems like VRF and DOAS
- Experience with Navisworks for BIM coordination
- Experience with construction administration
