Work Schedule:
12 month, full-time position. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am- 5pm. Will require evening or occasional weekend availability based on program needs. Primary work location is the Lynnwood, WA satellite campus, with travel to other campuses or clinical sites. Requires engagement in in-person program delivery, including labs, simulation, and clinical coordination.

General Description:
The ABSN Program Director provides academic, operational, and administrative leadership for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at the Lynnwood satellite campus. This position is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of program delivery, including didactic support, laboratory, simulation, and clinical education in collaboration with School of Nursing leadership.
The Program Director serves as the primary on-site leader for faculty and students and ensures that program delivery aligns with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. This is a faculty position with administrative responsibilities. This position reports to the School of Nursing Associate Dean.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Operations
  • Provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of the ABSN program at the assigned satellite campus.
  • Coordinate implementation of didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical components of the program.
  • Ensure program delivery is consistent, efficient, and aligned with School of Nursing, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for campus-based program operations.

Faculty Support & Development
  • Orient, mentor, and support full-time and part-time faculty, including clinical and lab instructors.
  • Collaborate with course leads to ensure teaching effectiveness and course consistency.
  • Monitor faculty performance related to student evaluation, clinical supervision, and course delivery.
  • Facilitate communication between faculty and School of Nursing program leads, directors, associate deans, and the dean.
Student Success & Academic Oversight
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for student concerns, including academic and clinical issues.
  • Support student progression and retention through early identification and intervention strategies.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in admissions processes, including application review and interviews, as assigned.

Clinical and Lab Coordination
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Placement Coordinator, Simulation Coordinator, and course leads to ensure effective clinical and lab experiences.
  • Support coordination of clinical orientations and onboarding processes.
  • Troubleshoot clinical placement and lab issues.
  • Ensure learning environments meet safety, regulatory, and educational standards.
Curriculum Implementation & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure accurate and consistent implementation of the ABSN curriculum at the campus level.
  • Collaborate with faculty to maintain current, evidence-based content in the learning management system.
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding curriculum effectiveness and needed improvements.
  • Participate in program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and outcome assessment.
Accreditation, Compliance & Evaluation
  • Support accreditation processes and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., WA BON, CCNE).
  • Participate in data collection and reporting related to student outcomes, program effectiveness, and quality metrics.
  • Assist with preparation for site visits, reports, and program reviews.

Campus Leadership & Engagement
  • Represent the ABSN program at the satellite campus.
  • Coordinate and participate in campus events, orientations, and program activities.
  • Foster relationships with clinical partners and community stakeholders in collaboration with SON leadership.
Collaboration & Service
  • Collaborate with Associate Dean, Program Directors, and SON leadership to ensure alignment across campuses.
  • Participate in School of Nursing and university committees, as assigned.
  • Engage in faculty governance and university service activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field or Master’s degree in nursing with doctorate in progress.
  • Current, unencumbered RN licensure (or eligibility) in Washington State.
  • 3 years of teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education, simulation, or lab instruction.
  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States on hire date AND legally authorized to work in the United States for Pacific Lutheran University without sponsorship.
  • Finalist applicants must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior leadership experience in nursing education (e.g., course lead, coordinator, director).
  • Experience in accelerated or hybrid nursing programs.
  • Experience with curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Established relationships with clinical partners.
