Job Summary:
The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines used in the fabrication of sheet metal parts. This role ensures parts are cut accurately according to job specifications and quality standards, and they are organized with corresponding work orders for the next step in the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate and maintain CNC laser cutting machines (Bystronic)
· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders
· Select appropriate material types and thicknesses for each job
· Perform machine setups and adjust settings for optimal cutting performance
· Inspect parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications
· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot minor machine issues
· Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
· Communicate with supervisors and team members on job status or issues
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required
· 1–3 years of experience operating CNC laser machines in a manufacturing environment
· Strong understanding of sheet metal materials and thicknesses
· Blueprint Reading: Skill in reading and interpreting complex design blueprints and technical drawings
· Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)
· Basic mechanical and computer skills
· Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and trouble shoot issues with machines or material.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods
· Forklift certification is a plus
Preferred Skills:
· Experience with laser programming software (e.g., CAD/CAM, Nesting Software)
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
· Prior experience in sheet metal fabrication

- Full Time
- M-F 7AM-3:30PM
- Saturday work & overtime available as needed
