As part of its continued efforts to strengthen mechanical reliability and reduce unplanned downtime, the organization is seeking a Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical. This role acts as the mechanical subject matter expert supporting equipment performance, failure analysis, and long-term asset health. The engineer will work directly with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to investigate equipment issues, develop repair strategies, and drive mechanical integrity improvements across the plant.
This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility role with significant impact on production continuity, safety, and asset lifecycle optimization. The ideal candidate will combine strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with a proactive, field‑focused approach to troubleshooting and reliability improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the mechanical subject matter expert for equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to perform physical failure analysis, determine root causes, and evaluate equipment performance.
- Perform regular field assessments of mechanical equipment to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
- Provide technical input into the Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance (MIQA) process and ensure compliance with mechanical integrity requirements.
- Deliver maintenance and repair insights into capital projects; act as the maintenance representative during project planning and execution.
- Support development of turnaround scopes and participate in turnaround activities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional subject matter experts to define work scopes and implement engineering or repair solutions.
- Provide input to reliability prioritization tools, including the Reliability Top Opportunity List.
- Serve as a technical resource in the creation and review of maintenance procedures, including Standard Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) processes related to mechanical equipment.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for equipment issues impacting safety, production, or reliability.
- Utilize SAP for maintenance data, bill of materials improvements, and work management processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university (minimum 3.0 GPA).
- 2–5 years of manufacturing, maintenance, or related industrial experience.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) environments preferred.
- Strong capability in identifying equipment failures and conducting root cause analyses.
- Proficient in developing or reviewing technical procedures and mechanical documentation.
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar maintenance information systems.
- Familiarity with risk assessment principles and maintenance work management processes.
- Strong collaboration skills with operators, technicians, engineers, and plant leadership.
- Ability to define scopes of work and support economic evaluation of repair or replacement options.
