About The Team

PG&E’s Corporate Development and Economic Analytics (CDEA) team is a high-impact group within the Finance & Risk organization. We serve as internal consultants, delivering strategic financial insights that shape the future of the company. Our work spans corporate finance, regulatory strategy, enterprise forecasting, and strategic financial transactions. We collaborate across all lines of business and are trusted advisors to PG&E’s senior leadership and Board of Directors. The team is involved in many of the strategic and analytical aspects of the company’s ongoing strategy development which makes it an exciting and dynamic place to work.

The CDEA team responsibilities include:

  • Building, maintaining, and utilizing models that can improve our ability to analyze the strategic and financial questions facing the company
  • Evaluating and implementing projects which can improve PG&E’s financial health including asset sales that can reduce debt and improve the company’s balance sheet
  • Providing support across the company’s various rate cases to ensure consistent and high-quality outcomes on regulatory finance matters
  • Providing economic analysis support to LOBs evaluating large capital projects and new business opportunities
  • Guiding company leadership’s exploration of significant financial and strategic transactions
  • The team also develops alternatives analysis studies for major projects over $20M.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible the development of sophisticated financial and strategic analyses that influence PG&E’s most critical decisions. You will work on high-visibility projects, from enterprise-wide financial forecasting to regulatory policy design and play a key role in shaping the company’s financial health and long-term strategy. You will analyze strategic questions from senior leadership from across the organization and provide meaningful insights to inform and drive decision making.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office each Thursday. This could scale up or down as business needs require.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

  • Bay Area Min: $102,000
  • Bay Area Mid: $127,000
  • Bay Area Max: $152,000

What You Will Do

Responsible for timely and effective resolution of corporate financial issues and complex analysis.

  • Develops financial statement impacts on company decisions and helps to analyze corporate strategy with the possibility of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Creates and maintains strategic financial models for quick turnaround of leadership inquiries.
  • Interacts and consults with business leaders and partners to convey information for executive decision-making.
  • Contributes to establishing standards and drives improvement within existing processes.
  • Develops processes as needed.
  • Uses existing financial models and/or develops new financial models including econometric and statistical models for analysis and decision making.
  • Translate financial analysis into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Prepares analytic support for regulatory filings and presents complex analysis to leadership or external parties.
  • Drive innovation in modeling, data analysis, and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Management Science, and other quantitative areas or equivalent work experience.
  • Four years work experience in financial analysis, accounting, or business-related experience, including advanced analytical experience.

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in quantitative fields (Economics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Management Science, or other quantitative areas.)
  • Strong communication and writing capabilities
  • Ability to build financial models from inception

Salary : $102,000 - $152,000
