Scene Shop Fabricator/Builder
The Fabricator is responsible for the successful completion of assigned jobs, including finishing tasks on time and within budget while maintaining a high level of quality, safety, and professional communication. This role requires working with a variety of hand tools and ensuring that all tools and the worksite are kept in a clean, organized, and safe condition always.
· Produce quality scenic product.
· Work safely and efficiently with the manager’s direction.
· Maintain a clean, organized and impressive workspace.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Reads schematics, drawings, and sketches with the ability to fully grasp project requirements.
· Accurately takes measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed for project.
· Matches materials to requested design specifications and creates materials that fit the client’s expectations.
· Requests building materials as needed from Department Head.
· Uses tools necessary to cut, shape and smooth multiple types of materials according to measurements.
· Inspects products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
· Maintains a neat and safe work environment.
· Expected to understand safety procedures and tools for the department.
· Paint touch up on scenic items as needed.
· Other essential duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Hands-on experience working with carpentry materials.
· Strong working knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, including design, assembly, and construction.
· Proficient in using electrical and hand tools as well as measurement tools.
· Ability to accurately read blueprints, technical drawings and diagrams.
· Willingness to comply with safety guidelines always.
· Solid basic math skills.
· CNC experience is beneficial but no mandatory.
Education
· High School Diploma/GED required
Experience
· 2 years of carpentry experience.
· Experience using power tools.
