Switchgear Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
The switchgear Electrical Engineer provides low and medium voltage engineering services with minimal direction to interpret customer requirements, electrical plans, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing. Generates submittals, design schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings to meet application requirements. The Switchgear Electrical Engineer creates engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing. This role is responsible for providing coordination and technical guidance to production personnel as appropriate; support product marketing and provide negotiation and application support for sales. Interacts with electrical distributors, consultants, contractors, and end users to provide technical support and product troubleshooting.
General Accountabilities
- Maintain current knowledge/expertise of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities, practices, market conditions, and channels.
- Interpret customer one-line diagrams and specifications to determine order requirements.
- Generate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings.
- Select Applicable Components to meet product application and customer requirements.
- Provide engineering functions in support of product marketing, manufacturing, and sales in line with company and product line objectives.
- Serve as primary contact for customers as technical liaison in all aspects of product application, performance, and compliance to specifications and solutions to complex customer problems.
- Review and analyze product configurations and components, design circuits, perform engineering calculations, and provide input to other departments including drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing personnel.
- Participate in product design, product revisions, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety improvements.
- Participate in customer project review/drawing approval meetings.
- Support other members of the team as needed.
- Participate and lead in customer inspections and witness tests.
- Manage changes to order requirements and assist with product warranty.
- Support and comply with environment, health, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 3-5 years of related experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Electrical diagram creation.
- Wiring diagram and point-to-point drawing creations
- Control design.
- Technical Support
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
- Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.
- Working and current knowledge of codes and industry standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Self-motivated, ability to work autonomously and manage workloads to meet assigned deadlines.
- Ability to understand and design all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery.

- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or similar program
