Role: Power BI Lead Developer/Architect - Microsoft Fabric
Location: Atlanta GA (Weekly 1 Day Onsite)
Day-to-Day Job Duties:
(What this person will do on a daily/weekly basis)
- Lead the migration of enterprise Power BI environments from Fixed Capacity to Microsoft Fabric architecture.
- Design, optimize, and maintain scalable Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and Fabric-based analytics solutions.
- Perform advanced DAX optimization and query tuning activities across Formula Engine and Storage Engine workloads.
- Analyze and optimize Vertipaq models, segment compression, cardinality, data types, partitioning, and query execution plans to improve performance and reduce latency.
- Implement and optimize Direct Lake architectures and Fabric-native storage strategies.
- Drive Microsoft Fabric optimization initiatives including data compaction, parquet file optimization, caching strategies, and workload performance improvements.
- Develop and maintain SQL and Python-based solutions supporting reporting, transformation, automation, and analytics initiatives.
- Lead offshore development and support workstreams while managing aggressive timelines and delivery expectations.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines leveraging GitHub Actions and DevOps best practices.
- Collaborate directly with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to define scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and client enablement around Microsoft Fabric capabilities and best practices.
- Conduct performance assessments and deliver actionable recommendations to improve enterprise BI and Fabric platform efficiency.
- Support governance, release management, and production deployment activities for enterprise reporting environments.
- Participate in client workshops, architecture reviews, and knowledge transfer sessions.
Basic Qualifications:

- Minimum 8 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or Analytics platform development.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Power BI development and architecture experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with Microsoft Fabric, Fabric workloads, or Fabric migration initiatives.
- Strong expertise in advanced DAX development, optimization, and semantic data modeling.
- Strong experience tuning Formula Engine and Storage Engine query plans for Power BI performance optimization.
- Strong experience with Vertipaq optimization, segment compression, cardinality management, partitioning, and cache optimization techniques.
- Strong SQL development experience with performance tuning and enterprise-scale data environments.
- Strong Python development experience supporting analytics, automation, or data engineering workloads.
- Experience building, migrating, or maintaining Power BI models within Microsoft Fabric environments.
- Experience implementing GitHub Actions and DevOps/CI-CD pipelines.
- Experience leading offshore or distributed development teams in fast-paced delivery environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to business and executive stakeholders.
- Experience training, mentoring, and educating clients and internal teams on Microsoft Fabric capabilities and best practices.
