This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and pricing, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to identify potential costsaving opportunities.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope and gather data for accurate estimations.
- Develop and maintain a database of costs for materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
- Review and analyze bid proposals from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and presentations for clients.
- Monitor project budgets and provide regular updates and reports to management.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure accurate and competitive estimating.
- Provide support during the bidding process, including answering questions from bidders and clarifying scope details.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial construction estimating or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost factors.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Sage, ProEst, Bluebeam).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
