Position Summary

Under the direction of the Faculty Dean and the Head of School, the Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for teaching Middle School Math A to 7th graders and Middle School Math B to 8th graders

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Have a good understanding of the CA Math standards.
  • Prepare instructional materials and class lesson plans and maintain daily records of achievement.
  • Instruct and support students who have mild to moderate or moderate to severe learning disabilities; may work with students who need extra academic or intervention support prior to identification for Special Education services.
  • At the direction of the Director of Special Education, facilitate classroom learning and gather classroom data in support of IEP/504 or other student learning goals (if applicable).
  • At the direction of the English Learner Coordinator, facilitate classroom learning and gather classroom data in support of English learners, including providing integrated English Language Development in the classroom.
  • Implement classroom behavior intervention plans where necessary monitoring student drills, practices, and related activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom information in accordance with legal requirements and policies.
  • Administer and score assessments.
  • Collect, distribute, and assist in the management of learning materials, including textbooks, technology, etc.
  • Provide students with a holistic education through academic, social, and emotional support needed to effectively engage in learning. Make referrals to additional school resources and personnel, as needed.
  • Supervise students during unstructured classroom time, thereby enabling a school environment that is safe, inclusive, and positive.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training during contracted hours to work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support students and work towards school goals.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties to support effective instruction, including data entry, student record keeping, making copies of instructional materials, filing, word-processing classroom materials.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Teaching credential or 18 semester units of mathematics on college transcripts
  • Ability to manage instructional time effectively, prioritizing student learning.
  • Responsiveness to students’ unique needs, identities, and learning preferences
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents and the public with patience and courtesy, in a manner that reflects PCS values
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
