Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced Pump Operator to join its team at its Production Facility in The Dalles, OR. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service.
We have two production facilities located in The Dalles, Oregon, specifically dedicated to processing cherries. The facilities are equipped with advanced sorting, pitting, and processing equipment, enabling us to efficiently process large volumes of cherries while maintaining strict quality standards. Our facilities are an important part of the Pacific Northwest's agricultural industry and play a key role in the production of high-quality cherry products for consumers around the world.
Pay Rate: $21.92 per hour. Weekend and overtime hours required when needed. This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Production Facility in The Dalles, Oregon.
As a Pump Operator, you will use your technical skills and attention to detail to operate and maintain pumping equipment year-round, support brine operations, and ensure a safe, clean, and food-safe work environment.
Primary Duties
- Operate all pumps in each of the pumping operations year-round.
- Maintain all pumps and pumping equipment, this includes preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Check for damaged product in all areas of the pumping operation.
- Work with Brine making team year-round.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and productive manner within FDA good manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized and hazard free work area.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions related to operations and safety.
- Must be Lift Truck Operator certified or be able to become certified.
- Must be respirator certified or be able to become certified.
- Understanding of hygiene standards/protocol for food safety; demonstrates an anti-contamination focus.
- Demonstrates ability to follow processes and systems.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and perform multiple tasks.
- Demonstrates excellent attendance and safety record and follows all good manufacturing practices.
Physical Requirements
Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, hearing, color identification, close and far vision, and depth perception. Moderate physical activity includes stooping and crouching.
