PAC works closely with architects, builders, and interior designers to deliver innovative solutions in audio and video systems, networking, lighting controls, motorized shades, automation, and security. Position Overview
PAC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Field Technician to join our Kauai team. This role leads onsite operations, installations, commissioning, and service for high-end residential and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate brings experience with Control4, Lutron, Crestron, Savant, lighting controls, motorized shading installation, AV systems, home audio, and networking. While hands-on experience is strongly preferred, PAC is open to training a motivated candidate with strong technical aptitude, professionalism, and a desire to grow within the company.
This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver projects at the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
System Installation and Integration
- Install, program, and troubleshoot Control4, Lutron QSX and HomeWorks, Crestron, and Savant systems
- Install and commission lighting control systems, dimming modules, smart lighting, and keypad layouts
- Install and integrate distributed audio and video systems, home theaters, and outdoor audio systems
- Install, program, and align motorized shading systems including Lutron and Screen Innovations
- Perform structured wiring, terminations, rack building, and detailed cable management
- Deploy and configure network hardware, routers, switches, VLANs, and wireless systems
Field Leadership
- Lead day to day site operations and manage small installation teams
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades
- Train junior technicians and ensure workmanship meets PAC standards
- Maintain accurate documentation, system records, and as-built information
Client Interaction
- Serve as the onsite expert and trusted client-facing representative
- Conduct system walk-throughs, client orientations, and end-user training
- Provide clear communication regarding project timelines, system performance, and expectations
Qualifications
- Technical expertise in system installations including audio and video systems, lighting controls, security systems, and energy management solutions
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and programming electronic systems
- Strong project coordination abilities with proven leadership skills and experience managing installation teams to meet deadlines
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, wiring schematics, and RCPs
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients, builders, architects, and design teams
- Basic understanding of computer networking and digital systems is preferred
- Prior experience in a similar role or within the home automation, low voltage, or integration industry is highly beneficial
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or vocational training in related fields are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
PAC will train the right candidate
- Experience with Control4, Lutron, Savant, or Crestron
- Experience installing motorized shading systems
- Knowledge of lighting controls and AV distribution systems
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, VLANs, switching, and wireless design
- Manufacturer certifications such as Control4 Tech I or II, Lutron Level 1 or 2, or similar
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, and active construction sites
- Ability to travel between islands and occasionally to mainland project locations
