POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in Cadence/Altium and PCBA development to join our R&D engineering group on-site in Cincinnati, OH. Sitting within a high-stakes product development function, this individual will own the hardware lifecycle—from initial circuit ideation and advanced prototyping through to system testing and manufacturing transfer. The role focuses heavily on developing complex analog, digital, and embedded circuitry utilized in precision equipment. Working alongside a collaborative engineering team, the candidate will utilize tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to solve signal integrity, EMC, and board-level issues, ensuring that new hardware platforms are highly reliable, performant, and built to withstand rigorous operating conditions.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
✔️Drive PCBA hardware development from concept generation through architecture, component selection, detailed schematic design, and initial prototyping phases.
✔️Utilize Cadence and/or Altium software platforms to build, simulate, and analyze complex multi-layer, digital, and analog circuit architectures.
✔️Diagnose, debug, and validate hardware functionality on the bench using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and multi-meters to quickly resolve technical system issues.
✔️Conduct precise board-level layouts, ensuring proper grounding techniques, thermal management, and strict control over high-speed signal integrity.
✔️Formulate and coordinate advanced engineering approaches to validate designs, including hand calculations, computational modeling, and empirical benchtop testing.
✔️Collaborate with cross-functional disciplines, including firmware, mechanical packaging, and external manufacturing partners, to align hardware limits with design controls.
✔️Integrate and optimize sub-systems such as DC motor controllers (brushless/brushed) and multi-tier communication buses (SPI, I2C, UART) into main system boards.
✔️Apply Design for Testability (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines to streamline assembly transitions and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
