The Associate Director, Office of Institutional Equity/Title IX Compliance reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity/Title IX Compliance and serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator to support the implementation of the University’s commitment to equity and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to non-discrimination and harassment. The Associate Director has primary responsibility for the day-to-day processing of sexual misconduct and discrimination cases and leads the resolution of these matters from receipt of reports to a conclusion. This is a multi-campus position and may require travel to the Pleasantville Campus.
Position Duties
- Provides prompt, effective, and coordinated responses to all reports of harassment and/or discrimination involving students, staff, faculty, and third parties.
- Serves as a neutral, independent investigator to conduct prompt, thorough, unbiased investigations regarding discrimination and/or harassment. This includes interviewing parties and witnesses, collecting evidence, and drafting investigation reports, making findings of fact to resolve complaints, in accordance with the applicable policy. This position requires a significant amount of writing and analysis of documents, and an ability to investigate multiple complaints simultaneously in an efficient manner.
- In consultation with the Assistant Vice President, evaluates reports and formal complaints to determine whether allegations constitute a potential violation of the discrimination/harassment policies enforced by the Office of Institutional Equity/Title IX Compliance.
- Maintains detailed and confidential case files and documents all cases in the appropriate case management system.
- Provides direct support and guidance to the University’s two Deputy Title IX Investigators on sexual misconduct issues involving students.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Vice President, and the Office of Sexual and Interpersonal Wellness, identifies, assesses, and implements sexual harassment prevention education programs required by university and federal/state/local mandates that are appropriate for faculty, staff, and students.
- Provides training and outreach to the University community, regarding compliance and equity matters, as well as instruction on all forms of prohibited discrimination and harassment.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Vice President to develop and review processes, responses, and policies for consistency with federal and state laws including Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), New York State Education Law Article 129-B, and the Clery Act.
- Independently, or in conjunction with the Assistant Director, collects data and prepares and disseminates reports, statistics, and assessment data regarding unit operations.
- Serves as a resource to community members with questions or concerns related to issues of discrimination and harassment.
- Serves on University committees as requested and appropriate.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, this position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are individuals at the University who, because of their function at the University, have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Crimes that are reported to them in good faith, or alleged Clery Crimes that they may personally witness. CSAs will be required to complete training with respect to the Clery Act and the responsibilities of a CSA.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM with additional hours as needed.
