Job Overview
The Mobile Foreman is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our Mobile Mechanic team, ensuring high-quality repairs are completed, safety standards are maintained, and workflow is optimized within the Mobile team. The Mobile Foreman has working knowledge of the tools and equipment used to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment. This position will involve traveling locally to customer facilities for service and maintenance work on trailers. Position may require periodic after-hours/on-call work.
Core Functions
- Repair Job Oversight: Oversees repair jobs from initiation through completion by ensuring the team understands repair orders, has the necessary parts, and executes work according to specifications. Provides hands-on support, troubleshooting, and recommendations for repair modifications while maintaining accurate updates in the ERP system. Conducts quality inspections to ensure repairs meet safety and company standards.
- Operational Excellence: Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and proper documentation for all repair activities. Monitors labor and material utilization, validates work order accuracy, and addresses discrepancies with management. Communicates with customers regarding changes to repair quotes and supports efficient, cost-effective job execution.
- Safety and Compliance: Promotes a strong safety culture by modeling best practices and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. Oversees proper equipment operation, including forklifts and other machinery, and ensures completion of required safety and hazardous materials training. Reinforces safe handling, loading techniques, and overall workplace safety standards.
- Team Leadership and Development: Supports team performance by resolving issues, reinforcing expectations, and guiding daily operations through effective delegation and decision-making. Drives employee engagement, accountability, and retention by fostering a positive team environment. Provides coaching, feedback, and development opportunities while managing conflict and supporting organizational changes.
Competencies and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in equipment/trailer/automotive repair preferred.
- Completion of a vocational or other post-secondary training program preferred.
- Trailer body and/or welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Previous supervisor experience preferred.
- Ability to learn product knowledge quickly and apply it to customer interactions.
- Familiarity with heavy duty truck systems, diesel engines, trailers and common industry brands.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale or inventory management systems, such as Karmak or similar.
- Basic computer skills (email, desktop navigation, etc.).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and customer-focused approach.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Infrequently.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 60% of the time.
