Duties
- Operate CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring optimal performance and precision.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and perform necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Conduct routine inspections using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part accuracy.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and tooling calibration using hand tools and power tools; maintain proper tooling inventory.
- Perform maintenance on CNC equipment following manufacturer guidelines; troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and enhance productivity across machining operations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development, assembly processes, and quality assurance initiatives involving plastics injection molding or welding when applicable.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with proficiency in CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to read detailed blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar tools for design interpretation.
- Knowledge of GD&T standards for ensuring part quality within tight tolerances.
- Ability to work with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required; understanding of tooling setup and maintenance is essential.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to machining dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Experience operating CNC control systems such as Fanuc or equivalent; capable of troubleshooting machine issues independently.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing tools.
