ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Education Services Coordinator is dedicated to empowering clients and informing the public through education and skill-building programs. This role works directly with children and adults in our programs delivering tutoring and life skills classes, while also representing the organization in schools and at community events to raise awareness about domestic violence, healthy relationships, and available resources.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Client Education & Direct Instruction
- Serve as a liaison between clients and the local school system, supporting educational continuity for children in shelter
- Provide educational tutoring to child clients including homework assistance, grade-appropriate curriculum support, and child development activities
- Deliver adult education services including GED preparation and higher education guidance
- Implement life skills workshops on topics such as nutrition, parenting, job readiness, computer skills, health, budgeting, economic empowerment, and personal hygiene
- Provide childcare coverage as needed to support shelter operations
Public & Community Education
- Represent the organization at local college fairs, neighborhood events, and school-based programs as assigned
- Go into schools and community organizations to inform and educate the public about domestic violence, healthy relationships, and resources as assigned
Program Support & Documentation
- Answer hotline calls and complete all required documentation
- Assists with shelter operations including hotline coverage, client support, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for residents.
- Provide direct client services including intake, departure processing, case notes, and records
- Assist with monthly data reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned to support victim services, shelter operations, and survivor-centered care
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation
- Experience in a social service setting strongly preferred
- Knowledge of domestic violence and related issues is highly desirable
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Understanding of computers, Microsoft programs
- Experience working with children and/or adults in educational settings preferred
- Flexibility with work hours, including availability for school and community outreach events
Additional Requirements
- Must complete 40 hours of domestic violence training
- Availability to work occasional weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks as required
