About the Position

Join our custodial team and help keep a federal worksite clean, safe, organized, and welcoming for employees and visitors.

As a Janitorial Worker, you will perform a variety of routine cleaning and custodial duties while working as part of a supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, is dependable, and enjoys staying active throughout the workday.

No two days have to look exactly the same—you'll work throughout your assigned areas while helping maintain a professional environment.

What You'll Do

• Clean and maintain assigned areas according to established procedures and quality standards.
• Sweep, dust, dust mop, wet mop, vacuum, and clean floors and carpeted areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and other surfaces.
• Restock restroom and janitorial supplies.
• Empty trash and replace trash liners.
• Dust and clean furniture, walls, windows, glass surfaces, stairwells, elevators, and other areas as assigned.
• Operate custodial equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto-scrubbers.
• Clean and maintain custodial equipment, including laundering mop heads, dust mop heads, and cleaning cloths.
• Apply salt to sidewalks and perform other winter weather duties as needed.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, supply needs, or other issues to the Supervisor.
• Follow all safety procedures, work rules, and site-specific requirements.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. Employees may spend significant portions of the workday:

• Standing and walking
• Bending, stooping, and kneeling
• Reaching with hands and arms
• Pushing and pulling custodial equipment
• Walking up and down stairs
• Using hands to handle tools, equipment, and cleaning materials
• Occasionally sitting
• Occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds

Work Environment

• Primarily indoors
• No routine exposure to extreme temperatures
• Work involves the use of custodial equipment and may include exposure to equipment noise.
• Required personal protective equipment may include gloves and safety glasses, depending on the task.

Schedule & Breaks

Full-Time: 8-hour shifts
Part-Time: Available based on operational needs

Full-time employees receive:

• 30-minute paid lunch
• Two 15-minute paid breaks

Schedules and break periods may vary based on contract and operational requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Previous commercial janitorial or custodial experience is helpful, but not required for all positions.
• Knowledge of common janitorial practices, cleaning methods, and custodial equipment.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate cleaning equipment.
• Dependable attendance and a willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
• Ability to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must successfully complete and pass the required criminal background investigation for the federal worksite.
