What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at PacAero?
PacAero Agawam is looking for an expert CNC Programmer with strong Mastercam and multi-axis milling experience to support our high-precision aerospace manufacturing operations. Requirements:- Program CNC milling machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) using Mastercam to manufacture complex, tight-tolerance parts from aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys.
- Develop and maintain setup sheets, tool lists, and clear instructions to support machinists and operators.
- Select and recommend appropriate tooling and cutting parameters based on material type, geometry, and job requirements.
- Optimize machining strategies for quality, repeatability, and reduced cycle time.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with machinists and engineers to improve process stability and efficiency.
- Ensure all CNC programs and processes meet internal and customer quality standards and support inspection readiness.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, part quality, and workflow.
- Maintain revision control and thorough documentation for all CNC programs.
- Mentor junior programmers and serve as a technical resource on the shop floor.
- Support inspection planning, basic process validation, and tooling/fixture development as needed.
- Interface with ERP systems (Abyss preferred) to ensure accurate job tracking and updates.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Mastercam and multi-axis milling.
- Strong understanding of machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temp alloys.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
- Solid understanding of G-code, speeds/feeds, and cutting strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing and quality standards.
- Experience with ERP systems preferred (Abyss ERP is a plus).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs).
- Ability to sit, stand, and move between office and shop floor as needed.
