What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Certification Seat Engineer position at PAC SEATING SYSTEMS LLC?

Position Overview:
The Certification Engineer is responsible for developing and executing certification programs to demonstrate compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements.
- Develop certification test plans and reports ensuring compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements
- Communicate with project team members to identify scope of work, schedule, design details, quotes, risks, and other pertinent factors impacting certification
- Oversee and assist as necessary with test article build and conformity
- Identify potential certification issues and any adverse impact; communicate any certification related information to supervisor and impacted disciplines. Analyze problems and derive appropriate solutions
- Develop tools, as necessary, to track deliverables, testing, compliance findings, to assure on-time completion of certification tasks. Maintain accurate and up-to-date certification records
- Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to regulatory agencies and completion centers/ODA
- Develop and execute certification programs for seats/divans per FAA guidelines/TSO/ETSO/14CFR part 21, 25 and airframe guidelines
- Prepares documentation for assigned projects to include certification documents, correspondence as well as planning and writing minutes of meetings between Company and the Civil Aviation Authorities
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints
- Participate in defining engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work
- Coordinating certification and continued airworthiness activities within the company
- May represent the company in meetings with government authorities as well as taking part in international working groups and committees
- Interpreting airworthiness requirements and advising appropriate departments in all matters related to airworthiness and certification
- May interface with customers, OEMs, FAA, and suppliers to ensure project timeline is achieved
- Act as subject matter expert for certification issues in a variety of areas, including flammability, dynamic and static testing, design compliance, and aircraft installation and integration
- Review certification documents of peers for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor latest industry issues and documents; communicate information to applicable team members
- 100% onsite; however, may require travel (up to 10%) to support external testing
- Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products
- May require work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet program objectives and deadlines
Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
- Exceptional organization skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
- Exceptional communication, both written and verbal
- Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
- Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience in Creo/Pro-E and AutoCAD
- Detailed knowledge of TSO processes and general FAA regulations
- Knowledge of FAA (Part 21 and Part 25) and Boeing requirements
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred
- 6 years’ experience
- Must have taken the current FAA sponsored Engineering Designee Initial Training Course
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
