PAAIA Internship Opportunities (Washington, D.C.)
The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is seeking motivated undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate interns to join our Washington, D.C. team. Internships offer hands-on experience in public affairs, advocacy, communications, and civic leadership — providing a meaningful opportunity to contribute to PAAIA’s mission of advancing the voice and participation of Iranian Americans in American civic life.
Interns work directly with senior staff and are integral members of a small, fast-paced team committed to building civic engagement, fostering leadership, and strengthening representation. All internships are based in Washington, D.C. and may include opportunities to attend events, assist with briefings, and collaborate across departments. Some familiarity or connection with the Iranian American community is encouraged but not required.
Communications & Civic Leadership Internship
The Communications & Civic Engagement Intern will support PAAIA’s public communications, educational programming, and community initiatives. Responsibilities include drafting and posting content across platforms, assisting with event promotion, supporting photography and video projects, and helping manage updates to the PAAIA and Civic Leadership Program (CLP) websites. The intern will also assist in outreach efforts to engage program participants, fellows, and alumni.
Ideal candidates have strong writing and organizational skills, an eye for visual detail, and an interest in public affairs, communications, or civic engagement. Experience with design or content management systems is preferred.
Open to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students.
Internship period: May 10th - August 10th
