Summary
The PA Wilds Conservation Shop team is considered the front line to a positive and memorable experience while visiting Leonard Harrison State Park. Charged as Community Connectors, their role is to enhance a visitor’s experience by providing top-notch customer service relative to the PA Wilds Conservation Shop and LHSP facility, answering general questions, and encouraging the exploration of the surrounding communities in the PA Wilds region.
The Keyholder is a lead Community Connector responsible for opening and closing the shop and completing other operational duties in the absence of management. They will provide training and leadership to the sales team to ensure positive and memorable experiences for guests visiting Leonard Harrison State Park.
Essential Functions
- Engage directly with customers either by telephone, electronically, or face-to-face.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints.
- Assume managerial responsibilities in the absence of the store manager.
- Train, inspire, and motivate the team to create a positive visitor experience and achieve sales goals.
- Perform all opening and closing procedures. Open and close cash registers and perform tasks such as counting money, balancing cash drawers, and preparing deposits.
- Assist management in recruiting talent and provide support and training to new employees.
- Assist management with staff scheduling and make staffing adjustments based on business needs.
- Manage inventory, prepare merchandise for purchase, and participate in physical inventory counts as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Perform store maintenance and product merchandising.
- Conduct monthly store audits.
- Identify problems with working conditions and report them to management.
- Assist with PA Wilds Center programs and projects as needed.
- Participate in community outreach and networking with potential and current PA Wilds Cooperative (WCO) members.
- Must be able to remain in a non-stationary position 50% of the time.
- Frequently move stock weighing up to 40 pounds across the facility from the receiving/stocking area to the retail space.
Nonessential Functions
- Provide feedback as needed to management.
- Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resource.
- Clean shelves, counters, tables, and reset merchandise displays.
- Ascend/descend a ladder to stock products and supplies.
Job Specifications
- High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent OR current high school diploma
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Familiarity with iPad and POS systems
- Knowledge of both Windows and IOS
- Ability to work without supervision
- Work collaboratively
- Willing to work a flexible schedule of days, weekends, and holidays

This position is Part-Time, Hourly, Seasonal, and Non-Exempt.
Schedules include a variety of day, evening, and weekend hours.
