The Extraction Technician works in a laboratory environment to extract cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds from cannabis flower to be used in various processed cannabis products. Extraction Technicians will be trained to complete various processes including solvent and solventless extraction, post-extraction processing, and product formulation. Extraction Technicians will follow the direction of supervisory staff to adhere to standard operating procedures and Department of Health regulations when producing company-protected formulations of finished products.

This is a labor-intensive position, working in a laboratory environment with exposure to greenhouse and manufacturing environments. This position is in an environment that frequently has a strong cannabis odor. This position will frequently be in-contact with cannabis in its cured, ground, and flash-frozen form. This position has direct exposure to finely ground cannabis product that can irritate airways. This position requires direct contact with certain solvents and chemicals used for extraction. Duties And Responsibilities
- Preparation of equipment and plant materials for extraction of crude cannabis oil
- Ensure that all extraction and post-processing activities are conducted in accordance with strict quality and safety standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and all other applicable legal and food safety regulations. Safely operate, clean and maintain extraction production equipment including solventless, supercritical fluid and solvent extraction systems, distillations systems, pumps, filters, and evaporators according to our SOP's
- Safely handle hazardous materials (Pressurized Gasses, Ethanol, etc.), and adhere to safe chemical handling and disposing procedures defined by SOP's and MSDS
- Safely handle and dispose of cannabis waste according to processes defined in SOP's
- Produce reliable and precise data for completion of all required batch, equipment, quality, inventory and state mandated seed to sale documentation
- Accurately fill out all associated logs and tracking records
- Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and ancillary supplies
- Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment and preparing requisitions as needed
- Maintaining material safety data sheets for all chemicals and products
- Following all standard operating procedures regarding product creation and lab safety
- Running extraction equipment to ensure attainment of daily production and efficiency goals
- Maintaining equipment health by performing daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly checks
- All other duties as assigned
- Must be able to use a variety of different extraction techniques to optimize extraction of active components from plant materials. Extraction techniques could include, but are not limited to, wipe film distillation, steam distillation, traditional solvent-based extraction, and chromatography-based approaches
- Demonstrated ability to work with laboratory equipment to process raw materials
- Ability to work in a team environment to meet or exceed key performance metrics
- Ability to perform basic math; including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication
- Comfortable with mathematical calculations, formula interpretation, weights, measurements, and chemical reactions.
- Able to manage processes, present technical Information, and work efficiently with little to no supervision.

- Sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time, including crouching and stooping
- Utilize hearing protection equipment and other PPE to maintain safety and compliance
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership through talking and hearing
- Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- The employee must be physically capable of performing manual labor tasks required for the proper management of -extraction facility, including meeting activity performance metrics, lifting/carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving and adjusting equipment, etc.
- Will be required to wear varying degrees of personal protective equipment for specific tasks (some tasks require partial PPE; some will require full PPE)
