Overview
Under direction from the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager supports the day-to-day operations on the dispensary floor, including product management, services provided to patients, and the delegation of tasks to dispensary team members while simultaneously ensuring the highest quality of patient experience. This position will partner with dispensary leadership to maintain inventory levels for a fully stocked dispensary. The Assistant General Manager will ensure all transactions, and the implementation of other retail processes, comply with state and local laws and regulations. Under the direction from the General Manager, this position will communicate practices, policies, and strategies that support a performance and results-driven culture.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May hire and train new staff or assist management with this process.
- Coordinates and oversees the day-to day workflow of subordinate staff in dispensary.
- Assists the Manager with employment actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with, under direction from, and in the absence of the General Manager oversee the day-to-day activities and flow of dispensary related matters, including, but not limited to, employee oversight and management, customer service interactions, maintain records for dispensary interactions, order supplies, and perform inventory reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all transactions; escalate issues to the General Manager and/or Director of Dispensaries as needed.
- Partner with Senior Wellness Associates to open and close the dispensary and vaults as well as maintain day-to-day operations; oversee procedures related to opening and closing the dispensary.
- Perform cash handling duties including but not limited to preparing cash deposits, tracking and reconciling registers, completing cash/transaction tracking records/logs, monitoring status of inhouse ATM’s; understand, escalate, and communicate issues as they arise.
- Record all sales and inventory transactions in accordance with state and local laws and regulations.
- Track sales metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; attend manager meetings and communicate as needed directly with PAOFW leadership.
- Maintain the electronic filing system by scanning, uploading, and saving paperwork in the appropriate folders.
- Under direction from the General Manager, participate in the recruiting, training, development, and success of employees; resolve conflicts, manage attendance and performance; maintaining a positive attitude while leading by example.
- Stay informed and knowledgeable about state and local laws, regulations, and industry news; this may be accomplished through continuing education, annual HIPAA Compliance training, etc.
- Maintain established standards of presentation, customer experience, and compliance.
- Be proficient and responsible for all inventory processes including replenishment based on weekly demand data and operational requirements for inventory control.
- Learn and participate in all HR aspects of employee management including writing schedules, managing time off and availability, approving and managing timecards.
- Support retail operations through the intake area and retail/dispensary floor as needed.
- Maintain a neat, clean dispensary floor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in business, management, or a related field preferred.
MINIMUM YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Two years’ progressively responsible retail experience.
- One to two years’ experience working in a management/supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management and reconciliation.
- Demonstrated experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a heavily regulated industry preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge of cannabis products and strains.
