Job Summary
We are recruiting for an on-site Speech and Language Therapist for the 26-27 school year. This highly qualified professional will be responsible for helping to reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to derive full benefit from the school’s educational program. This position requires the ability to motivate students in a distance learning environment and the willingness to be flexible. The individual will work in partnership with parents, students and teachers in order to promote student progress toward individual student goals.
Responsibilities
● Prepares educational plans annually for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures
● Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement
● Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired children
● Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, referring and identifying suspected speech and language impairments
● Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, fluency, voice, and language impairments
● Provides speech screening tests for all students referred by the in-school staffing committee
● Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
● Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members
● Maintains records for individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services
● Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students
● Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies
● Participates on evaluation teams for speech and language students as appropriate
● Completes students’ IEP paperwork as required meeting the required deadlines
● Completes progress monitoring for all student goals
● Completes other duties as assigned by administration
● Delivers weekly therapy sessions, in individual or in a small group setting
Other Responsibilities:
● Be an active participant in all of the student and school meetings with discussion, ideas, intervention proposals data sharing, and training opportunities
● Maintain confidentiality of student information, adhere to the professional code of ethics
● Position may require additional in-office days throughout the year as determined by administration
Qualifications
● Master’s Degree in Speech Language/Communication Disorders from an accredited program
● Active PA SLP license
● ASHA certification
● On-line teaching experiences, highly preferred
● Demonstrated experience with specific content areas.
Position requires a minimum of three days per week working on-site at the School's offices in Sewickley, and remotely two days a week in addition to attendance at required in-house professional development sessions or school meetings, as required. All staff members must have the ability to travel throughout the state to proctor standardized testing or attend other school-related events, as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
