Job Skills / Requirements

Schedule: Friday/Saturday/Sunday 2pm-10pm & Monday/Tuesday 10pm-6am.

Position Overview:     

Healthcare Security Officers are assigned to hospital entry points and other high-traffic areas where they operate weapons detection systems and/or magnetometers. Officers provide a welcoming presence while ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient screening process for all who enter the facility.     

Key Responsibilities:     

·         Operate weapons detection systems and/or magnetometers to screen staff, patients, and visitors for prohibited items.     

·         Maintain a professional, approachable presence while ensuring the integrity of security screening protocols.     

·         Assist hospital personnel and visitors with directions, information, and customer service support.     

·         Respond appropriately to system alerts and escalate concerns to hospital security leadership or law enforcement as needed.     

·         Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) documenting incidents, unusual activity, and security observations.     

·         Support hospital safety initiatives by monitoring entry points and controlling access to restricted areas.     

·         Maintain compliance with all client-specific and company operational procedures.     

Qualifications:     

• Vaccines Required: Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
• Varicella (Chicken Pox)
• Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis)
• Seasonal Influenza (from Oct 1-March 31 every year)

·         Education: High School Diploma or GED required.     

·         Licensing: Must possess or obtain a valid PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).     

·         Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.     

·         Experience: Prior security or military experience preferred, but not required.     

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.     

·         Ability to stand for extended periods while monitoring security screening equipment.     

• Must possess a valid FOID (Firearm Owner’s Identification) Card or be eligible to obtain one.
• Must be willing to obtain Taser certification and maintain compliance with all related training requirements.
