Land Management Coordinator
This is a full-time salaried labor position responsible for land management for Dawson Landholdings, LLC. The Land Management Coordinator is a member of the Triple Creek Ranch team and reports to the Ranch Manager.
Expectations: Monday-Friday and two Saturdays 8:00AM – 5:00PM on site at Triple Creek Ranch, Nocona Texas. This job may require employee to work outside of scheduled hours to meet the job requirements. Job requirements are listed below.
This person lives on site in a shared residence and is responsible for the safety and security of the ranch. Ranch owners must be able to count on this person in case of emergency.
This role involves a variety of labor intensive tasks focused on upkeep of fencing, land and equipment, the care of wildlife and domestic animals. The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- operating heavy machinery – (skid steer, tractor, mowers and implements)
- performing general maintenance tasks with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry skills
- fence building and repair
- plowing, planting, mowing, spraying, fertilizing
- road and trail maintenance and upkeep
- hunting, field dressing
- transport of game to processor and taxidermist
- basic computer skills – word, excel, email
- communication skills
If the employee lacks skills in areas listed above, the employee must be willing to educate themselves in those areas. This can be done by reading industry materials, watching videos, online classes or trainings. Employee must be motivated to learn and take initiative to become proficient in all areas required by the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- General maintenance and labor such as plowing, mowing, trimming, fertilizing, spraying, planting of land, lawn and property.
- Implementation of plan for seasonal planting, feed plots, etc.
- Daily fence checks and repairs as needed.
- Maintain vegetation clear fence lines.
- Maintain mowed and graded ranch roads and trails that allow safe and clear passage throughout the properties.
- Maintenance and operation of all farm equipment, implements and ATV’s.
- Building and land maintenance and repairs, i.e., electrical, HVAC services, air filters, plumbing, roads, ponds, etc.
- Maintaining the welfare of the animals: wildlife and domestics as needed i.e., watering, feeding, putting out bales, cleaning enclosures and stalls, moving and lifting square bales, checking on animals daily, etc.
- Monitor overall health, wellness and safety of the herds.
- Ensure the herd environment is well maintained, safe and free from potential hazards.
- Oversee and assist ranch guests and hunters during their stay, inclusive of guiding, cleaning, caping, etc. of harvested animals. Ensure guests have a good experience including food.
- Game/trail cameras in working conditions at all times.
- Cleaning and maintaining stalls and animal enclosures.
- Ability to do handyman work such as changing filters, carpentry, painting, electrical, welding and plumbing.
- Rounding up, moving animals and taking animals to the vet when needed.
- Must be able to do heavy lifting of hay, feed bags and equipment.
- Implement erosion control and conservation practices.
- Ensure firebreaks and emergency access are maintained throughout the property.
- Taking care of trash.
- Cleaning and organizing out buildings and shop area, helping with ATV, tractor, truck maintenance and cleaning.
- Maintenance of the water well systems and water tanks.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work well with other ranch staff and contribute positively to the team.
- Ordering feed and supplies (Tags, chips, tranquilizers, medicated feed) when needed and keep inventory stocked.
- Management of outside visitors on property to prevent damage, injury, etc.
- Ranch security and emergency response – (staff living in ranch accommodations are on call as first responders for emergencies and security.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Previous experience in ranch maintenance or a related field.
- Skills: Proficient in operating heavy machinery such as skid steers, tractors, and other equipment.
- Physical Ability: Must be physically capable of performing manual labor and handling heavy equipment.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks.
- Basic computer skills – word, excel, email.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to work safely at all times.
- Driver's License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. Must have reference and positive employment history.
